Peter McIntyre undertook numerous trips around the globe writing and illustrating books. He gained particular popularity in the United States in 1971 following the release of West, a large illustrated volume capturing his experiences travelling through the American West with his wife Patty. His ability to capture the spirit and atmosphere of a scene and infuse peopleless landscapes with anthropomorphic character, caused his paintings to be highly sought after by a new audience of American collectors.
